Description

A delicious and moist Country Apple Fritter Bread that combines the flavors of apples and spices, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well until fully combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon for the topping.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture over the batter. Add the remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the brown sugar mixture.
  8. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the topping into the batter for a marbled effect.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread before slicing.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider mixing in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans into the batter.
  • Substitute the apples with pears or a mix of both for a different fruit flavor.
