Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for honey butter)
- 1/4 cup honey (for honey butter)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for honey butter)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, melted butter, and honey.
- Add the yeast mixture and stir until combined.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the honey butter by mixing softened butter, honey, and cinnamon in a bowl until smooth.
- Once the rolls are done, brush them with the honey butter while they are still warm.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use half bread flour and half all-purpose flour.
- Add herbs like rosemary or thyme to the dough for a savory twist.
