Description

A quick and delicious Savory Skillet Beef Pot Pie that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (frozen peas, carrots, and corn)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the mixed vegetables, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir to combine, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until thickened.
  5. Pour in the milk and stir until the mixture is creamy and heated through. Remove from heat.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  7. Roll out the pie crust over the beef mixture in the skillet, tucking the edges down into the sides of the skillet. Cut a few slits in the crust to allow steam to escape.
  8. Brush the top of the crust with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
  • Add fresh herbs like parsley or rosemary for an extra flavor boost.
