Description
Spicy Thai Basil Chicken is a flavorful and aromatic dish made with ground chicken, fresh vegetables, and fragrant Thai basil, perfect for a quick weeknight meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2–3 Thai bird’s eye chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
- Cooked jasmine rice, for serving
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the minced garlic and chopped chilies, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the sliced red bell pepper and green beans, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Pour this sauce over the chicken and vegetables, stirring well to combine.
- Remove the skillet from heat and fold in the fresh Thai basil leaves until just wilted.
- Serve hot over cooked jasmine rice.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground chicken with crumbled firm tofu or tempeh.
- Add more vegetables like carrots or zucchini for extra nutrition and color.
- Adjust the spice level by using less or more chili based on your preference.
