Ingredients

  • 2 large apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 1 cup caramel sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil optional, for smoother chocolate
  • Toppings optional: crushed nuts, sprinkles, or sea salt

Method

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Slice each apple into 8 wedges, removing the core. Insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of each slice for easy handling.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the caramel sauce in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and pourable. Dip each apple slice into the caramel, allowing excess to drip off. Place the caramel-coated slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Refrigerate the caramel-coated apple slices for about 15 minutes to set the caramel.
  4. While the apples are chilling, melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Remove the apple slices from the refrigerator. Dip each caramel-coated slice into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off. Place the chocolate-covered slices back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. If desired, sprinkle toppings such as crushed nuts, sprinkles, or sea salt on the chocolate before it sets.
  7. Refrigerate the chocolate-covered apple slices for another 15-20 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
