  • 1 pound Ground Beef or substitute with lamb or goat
  • 2 medium Potatoes diced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup Tomatoes diced (fresh or canned)
For the Spice Mix
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander preferably freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder adjust to taste
For Cooking
  • 1 teaspoon Salt add to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Oil (Vegetable or Ghee) for sautéing

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat oil or ghee in a large skillet over medium heat. Once shimmering, add onion and sauté for 5–7 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring frequently until browned evenly.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes and cook for another 5 minutes until they soften and meld with the beef and onions.
  4. Sprinkle cumin, coriander, garam masala, turmeric, and chili powder into the mixture. Cook for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add diced potatoes and 1 cup of water. Cover and reduce heat to low, allowing to simmer for 15–20 minutes until potatoes are fork-tender.
  6. Adjust seasoning with salt and additional chili powder if desired. Let simmer for another 5 minutes to blend flavors.
  7. Serve warm alongside basmati rice or naan, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
